Seniors bash up student after heated argument

KUALA TERENGGANU: In yet another case of student violence, a Form Four student in Merchang, near here, was attacked by his seniors.

State CID chief Asst Comm Mohd Fauzi Abduri said the victim was accosted at the school toilet yesterday morning and manhandled by two other students.

He was slammed against the wall and struck on the head with blunt objects, causing injuries that required stitches.

The victim was bleeding profusely as he fled and sought help from a teacher who rushed him to a government clinic in Merchang.

He was believed to have been involved in a heated argument with his seniors at the school’s hostel last Wednesday.

ACP Mohd Fauzi said the victim lodged a police report later.

Those implicated in the report would be detained to facilitate investigations under Section 324 of the Penal Code, he added.

There has been a rash of similar incidents recently.

A 16-year-old was beaten up by 30 of his schoolmates outside a school in Puchong Perdana, Selangor.

In Dalat, a Form Three student was kicked, punched and hit with a kettle by a few other students at a dormitory.
